Understanding domestic abuse and its impact on getting access to housing
Tuesday 16 June 2026 | 10am to 12pm | Online
This training will provide a practical introduction to the topics of domestic abuse and coercive control. It will help you understand the wider context in which survivors experience abuse and the barriers they may face in getting the support they need, including from housing services.
The session will focus on helping community organisations feel more confident in recognising possible signs of abuse, and provide practical tools to help your organisation respond to disclosures of abuse in a safe way. It will look at “trauma-informed practice” – an approach grounded in an understanding of the way trauma can affect people physically, mentally and socially.
The session will explore the housing challenges faced by survivors of domestic abuse and some of the common problems they experience with housing providers. It will also offer an overview of local services and referral pathways to help survivors of abuse in Enfield.
