EVA Cost of Living and Homelessness Network training

Tuesday 25 February 2025 | 10am to 4pm, with a one-hour lunch break | Online

Develop your understanding of mental health issues and conditions with this special training session provided by national homelessness charity Shelter.

This course will help Enfield community and voluntary groups who are supporting local residents to identify common signs and symptoms of different mental health problems.

You’ll learn about the tools and techniques available to support an individual with their mental health and wellbeing.

The course will be delivered online, with an hour’s break for lunch.

It will cover

  • different mental health problems and common signs and symptoms
  • examples of feelings or behaviours an individual suffering with a mental health problem may experience
  • how trauma can develop or exacerbate mental health problems if untreated
  • supporting individuals using the ‘Recovery Model’ and ‘Mental Health Star’
  • how cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) can help individuals

At the end of this training, you’ll be able to:

  • recognise signs and symptoms associated with different mental health conditions
  • recognise how trauma and secondary trauma can be a risk for staff supporting people in difficult circumstances
  • identify sources of support and signpost or refer a person to the right service for the best response
