Information, advice, support, and training to help charities and community groups develop trusted services in our community.

EVA supports people who want to start a new community group, and people from established groups who want to develop their organisation or have encountered an issue they cannot resolve alone.

During the coronavirus crisis we continue to provide our advice & support service – via phone, email, and online video calling – recruiting, registering, and placing volunteers, supporting good governance and safe practice, and helping to maximise resources for trusted work in our community.

EVA hosts specialist training courses, workshops and events delivered by our own staff or by trusted partners to help community groups develop their staff, volunteers and trustees.

One-to-one advice and support

Our staff specialise in advice and support to charitable and community groups which deliver at least 80% of their services to Enfield residents. They can advise and give practical support on financial management, good governance, charity or company registration, fundraising, volunteer management, and policies and procedures.

Financial Management

Our Community Accountant, Sakeel Toraub FCCA, is a specialist in charity and community accountancy. He provides one-to-one advice and practical support by appointment, and runs regular training courses to support good financial management and compliance with legal requirements.

Good Governance

Our Development and Funding Advice Manager, Chris Scutt, provides specialist one-to-one support and advice by appointment, workshops, and training, to promote good practice and legal compliance in setting up and developing small local charities and community groups, and support for Charity or Company registration.

EVA provides specialist one-to-one support and advice by appointment, workshops, and training, to help small charities and community groups to raise funds and other resources for their activities and services.

We host ‘Meet The Funder’ sessions with funders invited to outline their funding opportunities and answer questions on their grant programme.

Volunteer Management

Our Volunteer Centre Manager, Meera Vasudevan, hosts Enfield Volunteer Organisers’ Network (EVON) for volunteer managers / organisers to share experiences and good practice in involving volunteers.

Policies and Procedures

EVA can provide sample policy templates and one-to-one support to develop appropriate policies for your group. Essential policies include Equal Opportunities, Safeguarding, Health and Safety, and Data Protection. If you involve volunteers in your group you should have a Volunteer Management policy.
